DYSPEPSIA

Dyspepsia  or indigestion may be due to peptic ulcers or to non-specific inflammation of the stomach lining. It may also be related to gall-bladder disease or more rarely, to disease of the pancreas. Persistent dyspepsia should be investigated to determine the cause. Medical management of the condition will depend on the underlying problem. Peptic ulcers caused by helicobacter infection will respond well to medications. Biliousness and nausea associated with gallbladder disease may however not be alleviated by surgery.

Acupuncture is effective for relief of symptoms in dyspepsia. It is particularly useful for the treatment of gastritis. It is also effective, as adjunct treatment, for giving symptom-relief in many bowel-related disorders.
